In 1968, Bobara Pendergrast started Olde Calico Cattery -- one of the first such catteries dedicated to the breeding of show-quality, bi-color persian cats. After several years of effort by Bobara, her sister Margee Cotton (Cottonpatch Cattery), and a number of close friends, bi-colors were recognized as an official color for judging in the Cat Fanciers Assoication (CFA) in 1971. Cartoon, pictured above, became one of the first calico Grand Champions. This picture, by reknown photographer Creszentia Allen, is popular throughout the world! |
