Bobara Pendergrast began creating her “cat jewelry with a Victorian Flair” in 1989 when she founded “Olde Calico Designs.” A world reknowned breeder of Calico and Bi-color Persian cats under her “Olde Calico” cattery name, she started her jewelry design company when her search for jewelry with cats and antique designs proved futile. One thing led to another and she began designing her own sterling silver jewelry, which has been featured in stores from New York to California. Bobara grew up in a creative household. Her father, Bob McAdoo, for whom she was named, was a gifted portrait artist and cartoonist who trained at the Chicago Institute of Fine Arts and specialized in Walt Disney characters. Her mother, Frances, is a talented, award-winning decorator. “I learned from them how to look at something in an unusual or different way. I think my jewelry reflects that as well as my close association with cats,” said Bobara. |
